Senior Technical Artist

THE JOB 

  

We are designing a world that is filled to the brim with life and motion, and we are looking for a Senior Technical Artist who is obsessed with special effects and making every detail perfect.  

 

We are Unreal-based, and we are building a multiplayer game with high emphasis on emergent experiences.  

 

Some of your tasks: 

. Design and implement lighting and special effects related to various game features such as weather, smoke, fire, water, explosions, wildlife and much, much more!  

. Creatively replace 2D UI with informative in-world effects.  

. Partner closely with art, gameplay, and engineering to develop a world-class player experience with best-in-class effects.  

. Expertly manage the content pipeline from asset creation through deployment with a focus on frictionless and fast iterations.  

. Attend and learn from playtests and offer solutions to player needs.  

. Provides excellent solutions to the technical side-effects of special effects (particularly online games).  

 

As our Senior Technical Artist you will have a crucial role in turning our visual spectacle into a masterpiece. We are looking for world-class mastery of particle effects, in a photo-realistic style.  

 

The Senior Technical Artist will report to the World Director.  

  

 

THE STUDIO AND YOU 

 

Since we are a small team in the startup-up phase, all employees are expected to wear multiple hats and to handle some ambiguity.   

 

We think your profile looks something like this:  

. Minimum of 5 years of game development experience 

. One or more titles successfully shipped.  

. Fascinated with light, smoke, fire, weather, liquid, explosions, destruction, and everything else that makes the world rich and alive.  

. Loves working in a dynamic and demanding environment.  

. Well-versed in Houdini, Blender and Unreal.  

. Visionary and insightful - yet pragmatic and practical.  

. Experience from online games with a heavy emergent component.  

. Excellent skill in translating wild ideas into perfectly executed effects.  

. A strong preference for fast iterations.  

. Sensitive to player experience and perception.  

. Consistently sees opportunity for in-world events over UI.   

 

As the Senior Technical Artist you will be an important cornerstone in Bespoke Pixel, and you’ll be expected to share your ideas and make a tangible impact on the project. That’s why we want you to have a curious mindset.

At Bespoke Pixel we work on site in Barcelona, currently 5 days a week. Therefore, living in Barcelona or being willing to relocate is a must.
